New Years Eve was our “Gin” night (see New Years Eve – Goodbye 2020). Tonight we decided to explore some Rum drinks. So once again Karen took to Pinterest to find some ideas of what to try. Almost every interesting drink she found wanted pineapple juice. But, sadly, pineapple juice is not in stock in our house tonight.

So instead I turned to the “Mixologist” app (not a sponsor) on my phone to see what I could find that matched what resources we had on hand. Mixologist is a cool adult app and has lots of options on how you find drink recipes. Obviously you can search for drinks by name or rating but one of my favorite features is “Search by Ingredient”. So, I put in Rum and a few other mixers and liquors and quickly had a list generated of what I could accomplish.

Our goal wasn’t to get drunk but to try a bunch of different drinks and see how we liked them. We split drinks or halved or quartered the recipe so that we could try multiple drinks in one night without regretting it in the morning. Unlike other recipes on our site, these are not our recipes and all of them came from the Mixologist app. The only thing we can add is our rating of drinks: 1 poor – 5 best. Our rating system is based on Karen giving her score and then I give my score, then we try to average the two. Having the relationship that we have, we enjoy the debate on the value of the recipe. From our experience, most couples can’t function after sharing this many aperitifs. Thanks for understanding our need to amuse ourselves with these activities during all the things that are happening in today’s world.

For those that know me I am a big Long Island Ice Tea fan. This last drink is a variation of that theme. I just had to try it. I have to admit, it’s not bad. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
