As we age, we realize the opportunities that we let slip from our grasp. Everyday I can see changes in my physique related to graciously getting older. I have been fortunate in most of my adulthood to not have to worry about weight gain because of high metabolism. This was actually a misfortune because I was never motivated to stay fit and exercise. Once menopause hit, my metabolism changed and so did my body.
In an effort to change my habits and commit to a new healthy pattern, Dennis and I have committed to support the American Cancer Society by participating in the Pennsylvania 60 Mile Challenge for the month of November 2020. This challenge is designated as a running challenge but we are committed to participating by walking whether outdoors or indoors (2 miles per day). Our commitment to this cause not only is benefiting us by getting us moving but it can benefit others by funding important cancer research.
My extended family has had many losses from cancer, far too many to list. If I remain ignorant to the struggle to become healthy and fit, I too could become another number. I encourage anyone who is possibly feeling the same physically to challenge themselves (no matter how big or small) and tell someone your goal so they can hold you accountable. If you are as fortunate as me, you will find quality time with a walking buddy!
Please consider supporting us by making a donation by December 7th, 2020 to the American Cancer Society. If you are one of my Facebook friends you can sponsor me on my Facebook fundraising page. Thanks in advance for any donations given!
